This log cabin was built about ten years ago. It was a family project. We cut the trees, skidded the logs out of the woods with horses, hand peeled the logs, and then scribed and fit each log into position. It is located 1.5 miles northeast of Spring Valley on Highway No. 8. Spring Valley Log Cabin
It is about 600 feet off the blacktop road, yet it is in a woods and has hundreds of young pine trees around it. Also, there are 4 acres of native grasses and wild flowers nearby. The Spring Valley Creek (a spring-fed trout stream) runs in front of the cabin, making for a very scenic and peaceful area.
Did you leave your cares at home? Good! Geese, wild turkey, and deer are often seen from the cabin. There are no mosquitoes (or very few) in southeastern Minnesota, making it enjoyable to be outdoors day and night. An outside fire ring is frequently used. There is a large deck with picnic tables and lawn chairs to relax on.
Inside, there is electricity and a kitchen with an apartment-sized stove, refrigerator, and microwave. You will have a hide-a-bed couch along with comfortable chairs and a dining area. A wood stove and an electric off-peak heater will keep you warm. In the sleeping loft, there is a queen sized mattress and a full sized mattress. Inside the Spring Valley Log Cabin
Our "rustic" facilities A large log outhouse is near the cabin. A solar shower bag for a refreshing cleanup is great.
